CHENNAI — Tamil cinema has a rich legacy of blending high-stakes commercial entertainment with impactful social themes. Carrying this tradition forward is the upcoming medical awareness drama “Sey Seyyathe (Do’s & Don’ts)”, a film designed to highlight the human side of healthcare, family values, and the vital need for informed health choices in modern society.
Real-Life Experiences Brought to the Screen
The foundation of Sey Seyyathe rests on authentic medical insights. The story, screenplay, dialogues, and direction are helmmed by Dr. S. Raja, a practicing physician and filmmaker with years of professional healthcare experience across India and the United States. Drawing straight from real-life incidents inside hospital wards, Dr. Raja has crafted a narrative that brings medical literacy to mainstream audiences without feeling preachy.

Adding a unique layer to the film’s backdrop, the project is produced by Subbulakshmi Jeyaram under the Harini Subbu Cine Creations banner. A B.Sc. Nursing graduate currently based in California, USA, Subbulakshmi backed the project with a vision to deliver cinema that is both socially meaningful and commercially engaging.
Tackling Modern Health Hazards
Rather than delivering dry lectures, Sey Seyyathe weaves critical contemporary health concerns into its dramatic storyline
The Pitfalls of Self-Medication: Exposing the dangerous habit of over-the-counter pill usage without proper diagnosis.
Internet Health Myths: Addressing the growing dependency on online search engines and unverified internet advice for health issues.
Substance & Prescription Abuse: Highlighting the catastrophic effects of drug misuse on individuals and their families.
A Tribute to the Healthcare Team: Expanding the narrative beyond doctors to showcase the essential contributions of nurses, sanitation workers, hospital administrators, and the public health system.
“As a doctor, I have witnessed countless real-life stories inside hospitals,” shared director Dr. S. Raja. “I wanted to transform those experiences into a film that would emotionally connect with audiences and inspire them to think about health, humanity, and social responsibility. If every viewer walks out of the theatre with greater awareness and compassion, that will be the greatest success of this film.”
Cast, Scale, and Production Values
Mounted on a substantial budget of approximately ₹4 crore, Sey Seyyathe features high production values shot across scenic locations in Tirunelveli, Madurai, Kodaikanal, and surrounding regions.
The film stars Guru Vijay in the lead role, supported by Darshini Reddy, Dabitha Gunaratne, Monica Preethi V., and child artiste Pratheeksha Mano Prashanth. Director Dr. S. Raja also appears on screen playing the role of the protagonist’s father. A major highlight of the film is a pivotal special appearance by senior political leader H. Raja, whose role lends significant weight to the story’s core message.
Behind the lens, the technical team features cinematography by Ramnadu Vasu P. and crisp editing by National Award-winning editor Raja Mohammad (of Paruthiveeran fame).
