Patna, 2026 — In athletics, winning a championship is difficult. Winning it repeatedly is rare. Winning it six consecutive times demands a level of consistency that very few athletes ever achieve.
National-level sprinter Atul Anand has now etched his name into Bihar athletics by claiming his sixth consecutive Bihar State Championship, a remarkable feat that reflects years of discipline, resilience and relentless pursuit of excellence.
Since first stepping onto the top of the podium in 2021, Anand has returned every year with the same objective—not merely to defend a title, but to raise his own standards. Season after season, despite changing competition, demanding training cycles and untimely injuries, he has remained among the state’s very best.
“People usually see the medals,” Anand said. “What they don’t see are the early mornings, the setbacks, the missed celebrations, the injuries and the countless days when you keep working without knowing what the result will be.”
His latest title may be the most meaningful yet.
Just weeks before this year’s championship, Anand suffered a significant muscle injury during training. The setback threatened to end his season, leaving uncertainty over whether he would even be able to compete.
Rather than giving up, he committed himself fully to rehabilitation, trusting the process and returning to competition determined to give everything he had.
The result was another memorable performance, earning one gold medal and one bronze medal, extending his extraordinary championship streak to six consecutive years.
For those who have followed his career, the achievement represents much more than another victory. It is the product of sustained excellence over multiple seasons, where maintaining motivation can often be more challenging than reaching the top for the first time.
Coaches and fellow athletes describe Anand as someone who has built his career on consistency rather than shortcuts.
“Winning once can happen,” said one fellow athlete. “Doing it six years in a row means you’ve learned how to stay hungry, adapt to challenges and perform when it matters most.”
Beyond the medals, Anand’s journey has been defined by balance. Alongside competing at the national level, he has continued to build a successful professional career, proving that discipline extends beyond the track.
Despite his achievements, Anand insists there is little time to celebrate.
“Every season starts at zero,” he said. “The medals remind me of what I’ve done, but they don’t help me in the next race. I have to earn everything again.”
With six consecutive State Championship titles now behind him, Anand’s focus has already shifted to a bigger stage.
The celebrations are over.
The training begins again.
And with the National Championships on the horizon, Atul Anand is once again back to the grind, determined to carry the same consistency onto the national stage.
